13.REMOVAL OF SHOES

Jack up the vehicle. Remove the wheels. Remove

the brake drum as per the above procedure.

Remove parking brake cable holding clip.

Detach the hand brake cable from the lever on the

trailing shoe by moving the lever towards the

centre of the brake and removing the cable end

from its location in the end of the lever.

Using a suitable drift, take out the end of the shoe

return spring from the hole in the w/cyl end of the

trailing shoe.

Reduce the adjuster assembly to its minimum

length by lifting the end of the pawl lever and

rotating the serrated adjuster nut.

Taking care not to damage the rubber dust covers

(2.1) on the wheel cylinder body (2), slide both

shoes (3 & 4) off the wheel cylinder pistons.

Manipulate the shoes to detach the adjuster

assembly and shoe return spring (7).
