9.13 ON VEHICLE TORSION BEAM REMOVAL

AND ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL

1. Position the vehicle in the two post lift.

2. Remove the wheel cap and loosen wheel nuts.

3. Lift the vehicle using two post lift.

4. Remove the wheel.

5. Remove the brake drum by gently tapping by

mallet.

6. Slacken off the hand brake cable.

7. Detach the hand brake cable from the lever on

the trailing shoe by moving the lever towards

the center of the brake and removing the cable

nipple from its location in the end of the lever.

8. Remove the hand brake cable holder lock pin

from the back plate.

9. Insert a screwdriver through the hole in drum

and press against the hand brake lever.

10.A ‘click’ will be heard as the lever moves down.

This movement compresses the pistons in the

wheel cylinder and thereby increases the

clearance between the brake shoes and the

drum.

11.Remove the rear sensor cable mountings on

the twist beam axle.

12.Disconnect the brake lines mounting on the

twist beam.

13.Disconnect the bundy pipe/Hose from wheel

cylinder. Remove bleed screw. Put rubber dust

cap on to the bundy pipe to avoid brake fluid

from spilling and contamination.
