B100D-96:-Passenger Side Peripheral sensor component internal failure

Customer Symptom

SRS Warning Lamp continuously ON in Instrument Cluster.

Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

Passenger Side Crash detection performance is degraded &

Passenger Side angular crash detection is not guaranteed.

Lamp Status (If Any)

SRS Warning Lamp continuously ON in Instrument Cluster.

Fault Detection Condition

This fault gets logged if Passenger Side Peripheral sensor has

internal component failure

Normal Operating Condition

Internal component failure should not be present.

Probable Trouble Area

Related wiring Harness, connector or terminals

Passenger Side Peripheral sensor

Airbag Wiring Harness

Airbag ECU

Healing Condition

Passenger Side Peripheral sensor has to be replaced.

Component Details:-

Passenger Side peripheral Sensor

: - These sensors are mounted on left side “B” pillar at the bottom end.

Airbag ECU

: - It is fitted in the floor of central console in the car. The Airbag Electronic Control Unit (ECU) controls the

deployment system to allow an appropriate igniting of the Airbags and belt pre-tensioners to restrain the driver and

passengers.

Preliminary Checks:-

1. Check Battery Voltage (12 V & above)

2. Check for any faults in Airbag Warning Lamp indication in Instrument Cluster.

3. Ensure the proper locking of Airbag ECU wiring harness connectors in the vehicle by the locking sound.

4.

Check whether the Passenger side peripheral sensor is connected properly to the wiring harness.

Ensure the proper locking of the Passenger side peripheral sensor to the wiring harness connector.
