B2236- 11: Position Lamp Switch - Circuit short to Ground

Customer Symptom
Position Lamp always ON
Fault Effects (On Vehicle)
Position Lamp always ON
Lamp Status (If Any)
Always ON
Fault Detection Condition
This fault will be logged after the input switch test routine
execution. User has to operate the switch manually during
routine. If short to ground circuit fault is detected for Position
Lamp switch then this DTC code will be returned with the
Routine results.
Normal Operating Condition
There should not be any fault returned by routine
Probable Trouble Area
1. BCM connector Fault
2. Cockpit (group) harness Short to ground
3. Switch damaged or stuck
4. BCM ECU fault
5. Combi switch connector fault.
Healing Condition
1. Ignition OFF
ON
2. Clear DTC Command
Component Details:
Position Lamp switch is part of combination stalk switch and interfaced to the BCM. If the IGN is KeyIN or Keyout/
Accessory /on and Main beam / Dipped beam are ON or Position lamp switch signal is active, Position lamp will
turn ON.
Preliminary Checks:
1. Check Battery Voltage (9V-16V)
2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
