P2228-16: Atmospheric air pressure sensor (circuit voltage below threshold)

Overview:

DTC Description as per ISO standard

Atmospheric air pressure sensor (circuit voltage below

threshold)

ECU Pin Number

ECU intetrnal

Customer Symptom

MIL ON

Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

1. Torque limitation.

2. Regeneration off

3. DPF lamp On in instrument cluster.

Lamp Status (If Any)

MIL ON, DPF lamp ON

Fault Detection Condition (Root cause)

Ignition ON and Engine On. Atmospheric air pressure sensor

(circuit voltage below thresho

Normal Operating Condition

No Fault Code

Probable Trouble Area

1. Run the diagnostic procedures to check the EMS & ground.

2. Check the integrity of the pins of the EMS, if the fault still

occurs, replace the EMS.

Healing Condition

Clear through diagnostic tool

Ignition OFF & ON

Component Details:

Atmospheric Pressure Sensor is mounted on EMS ECU; it gives the Atmospheric Pressure signal to ECU internally.

No separate hardware pins assigned to Atmospheric Pressure signal in wiring harness. EMS uses the atmospheric

pressure information for correction of air fuel ratio at higher altitudes.

Preliminary Checks:

1. Check whether the customer voice / view about the issue is matching with the fault effects mentioned above.

2. If yes, go ahead with next steps. If not, check for other DTC’s presence.

3. Check whether similar complaints are earlier reported. If yes, perform the preliminary checks with respect to

Earlier issue closure. Check whether the EMS ECU is getting power supply and GND. Rectify wiring Harness as

per the schematic if found faulty.

4. Check whether the Main relay is faulty. Rectify/Replace if found main relay is faulty.

5. If fault still persists then Call Hot Line
