1.4 OVERHAULING :
A. PRECAUTIONS :
The following general precautions to be followed
during servicing and during overhauling of rack
and pinion assembly:
Plug the ports tight with protective caps in the
steering gear.
Take care to avoid damages to bellows, feed
pipes, and input shaft while removing the RAP
assembly from the vehicle.
Use only special tools and do not hammer to
remove components from steering gear.
Do not attempt to weld any broken steering
components. Replace the components with
the original equipment.
Always clean off around the reservoir filler cap
before its removal to prevent entry of dirt
particles and foreign material into the
hydraulic system.
