C. FEED PIPE :

1. Long Feed Pipe :

Dismantling:

1. Unscrew the flare nut of long feed pipe at

housing and rack end and remove long feed

pipe.

INSPECTION:

Check for any damage or bend on the long

feed pipe.

Assembly:

Properly orient the long feed pipe, enter the

nuts at both ends in the respective ports of

rack tube and housing and tighten the nuts

evenly to the specified torque.

NOTE:

For torque value refer tightening torque table.

2. Short Feed Pipe:

Dismantling:

1. Unscrew the flare nut of short feed pipe at

housing, rack end, and remove short feed

pipe.

INSPECTION:

Check for any damage or bend on the short

feed pipe.

ASSEMBLY:

Properly orient the short feed pipe, enter the

nuts at both ends in the respective ports of

rack tube and housing and tighten the nuts

evenly to the specified torque.

NOTE:

For torque value refer tightening torque table.

D. DO’S & DON’TS :

DON’TS:

1. Never lift steering gear by holding bellows.

2. Never lift steering gear by holding Feed pipes.

3. Never store steering gear resting on its

bellows.

4. Never store steering gear resting on its feed

pipes.

5. Never store / transport steering gear with

bellows / feed pipes fouling with other objects.

6. Never remove port plug before connecting

with mating parts.

7. Do not remove the feed pipe assembly from

the gear port; remove it only when replacing

the feed pipe.

8. Never use cotton waste which will cause

contamination.

9. Do not adjust ball joint nuts except during

wheel alignment

10. Never lift steering gear by holding IBJ’s.

NOTE:

Bellow is a seal. Do not use sharp tools near

bellows if it can damage bellows.

CAUTION:

Damaged bellow or absence of clip can cause

water ingress and subsequent failure of

Power steering.
