SRS

5.

The airbag modules or their components

must not be adapted or installed in any

other vehicle other than the specific

vehicle for which they

are designed and

manufactured. Any attempt to adapt or

install airbag modules or their

components in any other vehicle can

result in personal injury to the occupants

in the event of accidents.

6. The system has back-up power for about

30 seconds after the battery is

disconnected. Wait for at least ONE minute

after disconnecting the battery before

servicing the vehicle to prevent accidental

deployment and personal injury.

General precautions:

The following precautions have to be taken while

working on SRS system.

1. Always remove the ignition key from the

ignition switch, disconnect the vehicle battery

and wait 10 minutes before commencing work

on the SRS system.

2. When removing, testing or installing an airbag

module, do not lean directly over it. Always

refer SRS component testing precautions

3. In order to assure system integrity, it is

essential that the SRS system is regularly

checked and maintained so that it is ready for

effective operation in the event of a collision.

Carefully inspect SRS components before

installation. Do not install a part that shows

signs of being dropped or improperly handled,

such as dents, cracks or deformation. Dropped

modules may get damaged. In such cases

contact the supplier for further course of

action.

4. Ensure

SRS

components

are

not

contaminated with oil, grease, detergent or

water. It is essential that SRS components are

fitted using the recommended torques. Always

use specified earth fixings tightened to the

correct torque. Poor earthing can cause

intermittent problems that are difficult to

diagnose.

5.

Never attempt to repair an SRS component.

Do not try to dismantle an airbag module,

there are no serviceable

parts. Once an

airbag or pre-tensioner has been deployed, it

cannot be repaired or re-used.

6. Do not install used SRS components from

another vehicle. When repairing an SRS

system, only use TATA authorized genuine

new parts.

7. It is essential that SRS components are fitted

using the recommended torques. Always use

specified earth fixings tightened to the correct

torque. Poor earthing can cause intermittent

problems that are difficult to diagnose.

8. Do not cut, drill, braze or solder the gas

generator assembly.

9. Do not allow assemblies to come into contact

with electrical current (like even Multimeter etc.

except as designed. 10. Never hammer on any

SRS component - it might get damaged

internally.

10. Do not carry the airbag or pre-tensioner

module, with the cable assembly connected -

long cables can pick up Electrostatic Charge

particularly if dragged on the floor and could

lead to deployment of airbag.

11. If the airbag cover has opened during

transport or handling, the airbag must be

returned to the supplier.

12. Do not attempt to refold the bag into the

cover. Deployment protection may be

compromised or injury may be induced. This

is because foreign objects could enter the

bag, or the vehicle specific bag-folding pattern

could be altered from its original optimized

design.

13. Prior to commencing any test procedure on

the vehicle, ensure that only test equipment

approved for the purpose is being utilized and

that it is in good working order. Ensure any

harness or connectors are in good condition

and any warning lamps are fully functional.

14. Do not keep a live airbag module with the

deployment door faced down. Place the

Airbag modules such that the deployment

side is placed facing upwards and away from

any loose parts
