1.7 ON VEHICLE SERVICE PROCEDURE

A. ENGINE REMOVAL AND REFITMENT

DESCRIPTION

In many cases, the engine can be repaired while

still in the vehicle. The engine must be removed in

cases where the engine has been severely

damaged beyond repair or the type of repair

necessitates removal. Use the following

procedure as a guide to engine removal and

installation.

REMOVAL

NOTE

Access to an overhead hoist will ease

removal of the engine.

Use a vehicle lifting hoist, if available.

1. Place the vehicle on the two post lift and

engage the parking brake.

2. Open the hood (bonnet) of the vehicle.

3. Disconnect the Purge hose, Blow-by hose

and EVRV hoses.

4. Remove the air filter assembly and intake

system hoses along with blow-by hose from

the engine.

5. Disconnect the negative (-) cable and then

the positive (+) cable from the engine.

6. Disconnect and remove the Engine wiring

harness connection with ECU.

7. Disconnect the electrical connection of the

ECU.
