12.5 OVERHAULING
A. PRECAUTIONS
1. Do not reuse the oil seal.
2. Do not reuse ring gear bolts.
3. Use only genuine equipment for replacement
of a part to avoid unit failure and vehicle
safety.
4. Do not mix the new gears with the old gears as
this may results in uneven wear and short gear
life.
5.
Use of special tools is necessary wherever
specified
B. DISMANTLING
INSPECTION
AND
ASSEMBLY
I DIFFERENTIAL CASING
DISMANTLING
1. Loosen and remove the 9 bolts and 2 nuts and
take out the differential cover.
NOTE
Liquid Gasket is used for seal carrier section with
banjo beam. Scrap this sealant and clear it.
2. Remove bearing caps by removing bearing
cap bolts.
NOTE
Identification mark is punched on bearing cap; this
is to ensure correct bearing cap is installed on
correct side. Ensure correct bearing caps used
while reassembly.
3. Pry out differential case from carrier with help
of tommy bars
(Part No.289458903521) (Qty.2
Nos.)
4. Remove side bearing cone from differential
case assembly using special tool mentioned
below.

Press

5. Identify shims and side bearing on both sides.
They are not to be interchanged
during
assembly.
6.
If shims are damaged, replace with new shims
during assembly
