7. STARTER MOTOR :
Removal : Fig. 8
l
Disconnect battery cable from starter solenoid.
l
Remove nut securing battery cable to starter
solenoid.
l
Remove upper bolt securing starter motor to
engine.
l
Disconnect earth lead from bolt.
l
Remove starter motor.
Fitment :
l
Clean starter motor and mating faces of starter
motor and flywheel housing.
l
Fit and align starter motor to engine.
l
Connect earth lead to starter motor upper bolt.
l
Fit upper bolt securing starter motor to engine
and tighten it.
l
Tighten lower bolts securing starter motor to
engine.
l
Connect battery cable to starter solenoid, fit nut
and tighten it.
Trouble Shooting :
Start the Engine
a) Engine not cranking at all
l
Check Battery for connection
l
Ensure Battery is in healthy condition
l
Tighten starter motor terminals
l
Check continuity as per circuit diagram
l
Fix the connector properly
l
Replace relay if found faulty
l
Replace ignition switch if found faulty
l
Replace starter motor.
b) Engine cranking but not starting
l
Tighten starter motor terminals
l
Ensure Battery is in healthy condition
l
Replace starter motor
l
Check & replace fuel pump.

c) Engine does not start / not starting in cold
conditions
l
Check Battery for connection
l
Ensure Battery is in healthy condition
l
Tighten glow plug terminals
l
Replace glow plug
l
Replace glow plug temp. sensor
l
Replace glow plug timer.
d) Engine does not STOP after ignition is
switched OFF
l
Check wiring continuity
l
Replace ignition switch if found faulty
l
Check & replace fuel pump.
