5.

INSPECTION OF COMPONENTS

l

Check the condition of rubber bushes of top link,

bottom link and panhard rod assemblies (Fig. 31).

If necessary replace with new one.

l

Check the condition of top link, bottom link and

panhard rod for any bend, damage etc. If

required, replace with new ones.

l

Check the condition of axle stopper rubber. If

perished/cracked, replace with new ones.

l

Check the condition of spring seat top for any

damage (Fig.32). Replace with new one if

necessary.

l

Check the condition of coil spring for any

damage, cut or permanent set etc. Replace with

new one if necessary.

Caution

Spring seat top and coil spring are matched. Use

the coil spring with appropriate spring seat as

given

below

Check the condition of antiroll bar for any bend

etc. If necessary replace with new one.

l

Check the condition of shock absorber for any

leakage / damage etc. If necessary replace with

new one.

Caution

Shock absorber fitted in this vehicle is with built-

in rebound stopper. There is no separate rebound

stopper fitted. Hence vehicle SHOULD NOT BE

DRIVEN without OE shock absorber.

Running the vehicle without OE shock absorber

or fitment of non-genuine shock absorber may

lead to coil spring coming out in dynamic

condition especially on rough roads and also

during jacking up.

ASSEMBLY / INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

a) ASSEMBLY / INSTALLATION OF BOTTOM

LINK

l

If rubber bushes have been removed, refit new

bushes using suitable drift.

l

Install the bottom link in position, tighten the bolts

to 16 mkg torque.

l

Connect the propeller shaft to tail pinion and

tighten the screws.

l

Route the parking brake cable LH through the

hook on frame and connect it to the link. Adjust

the parking brake. Refer brakes Group.

b) INSTALLATIONOF COIL SPRINGREARWITH

SPRING SEAT

(Fig. 32)

l

If new coil spring/spring seat top is fitted ensure

that coil spring colour code and no. of lugs in

spring seat top are matching. For details of

matching 'refer Inspection of components'

l

Install the spring seat top in position.

l

Support the front wheels with wheel chocks to

prevent the vehicle from any movement.

l

Jack up the frame suitably so that the coil spring

can be inserted between the spring seat top and

bottom.

l

Ensure smaller pitch of the spring is at bottom.

l

Gradually lower the jack so that the spring gets

compressed to normal position.
