9 Hand tighten main bearing cap bolts evenly

starting from centre and progressing to either

sides one by one. Simultaneously check crankshaft

for free rotation.

10 Tighten these bolts with torque wrench in above

sequence to specified torque. Fig. 13.

11 Check end play of the crankshaft by inserting the

feeler gauge between thrust collar of 2nd journal

and thrust washer. This can also be checked with

a magnetic stand and dial gauge at crankshaft end.
