Install A.C. compressor bracket with tensioner.

Fig 176

Fit AC compressor.

Ride the AC belt over vibration damper, compressor

pulley and tensioner as shown Fig 177

Procedure for tensioning of AC belt

l

Remove cap

l

For tensioning, rotate the tensioner screw in

anti-clockwise direction. Tighten the nut

heck belt tension at midspan of vibration

damper and AC pulley with 'clavis gauge'.

a. Frequency should be 105 + 10 Hz for new

belt.

b. Belt to be retensioned to 90 + 10 Hz on

vehicle after running for 15 minutes.

l

Similarly adjust the alternator / power steering

belt tension.

The belt tension measured at midspan of alternator

pulley and power steering pump pulley with "clavis

gauge should be 250 + 10 Hz for new belt.

Belt to be retensioned to 220 + 10 Hz on vehicle

after running for 15 minutes.

Precautions

1. Keep belt tension in the given range.

2. Ensure fitment of cap after every tensioning.

3. Do not use sharp tool for belt assembly.
