GENERAL

1. INTRODUCTION TO CNG SYSTEM:
In addition to the full capacity of petrol the Nano Bi-
fuel CNG comes with an additional CNG fuel
choice for the running.
CNG or Compressed Natural Gas is a safe and
environment friendly fuel which is stored under
high pressure in the CNG storage tank.
CNG is non-toxic, non-corrosive and lead free gas
which is produced by refinery fractionation of crude
oil or occurs naturally during oil extraction
process.
CNG fuel system and the components meet the
rigid emissions and safety criteria. CNG-fuelled
vehicles are as safe as those with other fuel
systems.
Mode Selection
For CNG operation, press the Fuel Selector Switch
provided on the dashboard. The fuel change over
happens automatically.
The switching between fuels (Petrol-CNG-Petrol)
can be done at any time, even while running.
Nano bi-fuel runs intermittently in petrol mode.
Hence it is must to have sufficient petrol in petrol
tank at all times during running.
2. BENEFITS OF CNG:
CNG serves as an alternative to petrol. Due to
its low hydrocarbon emissions, CNG is widely
considered to be an environmentally viable
alternative.
Lower maintenance costs when vehicles run on
CNG.
With rising petrol costs, CNG has seen the
competitive edge with its lower price and high
availability.
Vehicle life-span can be prolonged since there
is no carbon generated during combustion and
hence, engine and the oil in the engine are
much cleaner.
3. FEATURES OF CNG BI-FUEL SYSTEM:
Safety:
Compliant with all prevailing Indian Regulations
makes the CNG Bi-fuel system more robust
and safe to drive. The important safety
features are:
Important safety features are :
Automatic shut-off safety Solenoid (Tank
solenoids and pressure regulator solenoid)
immediately in the event of -
1. Broken fuel pipes ( high pressure and low
pressure pipes)
2. Engine stalling
3. Fault Detection
The EMS is equipped with patented gas
leakage detection strategy which enables
detection of gas leakages in the fuel supply
system. Leakage detection strategy is enabled
during the following operating conditions :
1. Before switching from Petrol to CNG.
2. - Engine running in petrol mode.
3. - During the power latch.
Fault detection of EMS and fuel supply system
1. Electrical diagnosis (open / short circuit) of
EMS components, compliant with Indian
On Board Diagnosis System 2(I-OBD 2).
2. Functional
diagnosis
–
regulation
supervision, engine parameters monitoring.
3. Intelligent Fault tolerant system with limp
home mode.
