B) Sensitive to
steering,
wheel speed.
C) More preva-

when
steering fast.
Some power steering pumps
have temporary state, when
pump element vanes are
sticky.
Increase engine speed briefly to correct the problem.
Air drawn in due to insufficient
fluid per filling and bleeding
procedure.
Add fluid and bleed the system.
Air being sucked in through
cracks or loose fittings/hose /

Correct/ Replace the crack/ loose fitting, hoses, pipes in

Steady state fluid pressure
(with hands off steering wheel)
at idling with shut off valve
fully open is high, due to clog-

return hydraulic lines.
Clean/replace the clogged/deformed hydraulic lines as
required.
D) Present only
in one direc-

Unequal tyre pressure.
Inflate both steered wheels equal specified pressure.
Feed pipe to concerned cylin-
der is deformed.
Replace the deformed feed pipe.
Excessive internal leakage in
one direction of turn only
(veri-
fy with internal leakage test.)
Repair or replace the steering gear.
E) Present in
both the di-
rection of turn
Low tyre pressure.
Inflate both steered wheels to equal specified pressure.
Low hydraulic fluid.
Check and rectify external leak
Improper rotation or binding in
column related parts.
Determine by inspection what interference or condition is
causing binding and correct the problem.
Low pressure or flow from
Pump.
Check pump’s performance. Repair or replace as re-

Faulty steering joints.
Replace the joints.
