2.0 DIS-ASSEMBLY OF AXLE.

Removal of axle shaft from axle:

Remove the brake drum from axle

Note:

Remove parking brake cables, Brake hoses,

and Other Attachments from axle.

Remove breather hose connection with

adapter on rear axle.

Supporting rear axle at center by a trolley jack,

draw out axle assembly. Mount it on work stand.

Warning:

A serious or fatal injury can occur if vehicle is not

properly jacked.

Extreme care must be taken when working on

components utilizing snap rings or spring loaded

retention devices

2.1 AXLE SHAFT DISASSEMBLY

Oil Seal Removal

Unscrew and remove anchor plate nuts, which

hold anchor plates to axle housing.

Note:

Discard nuts and replace with new ones during

assembly.

Remove axle shafts with the help of axle shaft

puller.

Note:

While removing axle shafts make sure that they

are marked properly (LH & RH).

To remove inboard oil seal use Puller slide

hammer

Note:

DO NOT RE-USE OIL SEAL
