11.Remove the mounting screw of upper universal

joint.

REFITMENT:

1. Keep the front wheels in straight ahead

position.

2. Follow the reverse procedure of removal.

NOTE:

Wheel alignment is necessary after installation

(Refer wheel alignment procedure).

!! WARNING

Never lift steering column by holding servo

unit.

Never lift steering column by holding tilt

lever.

Never keep steering column resting on

servo unit.

Handle

with

care

while

transport/movement.

Do not use the steering column if dropped.

Always disconnect the battery while

replacing column/servo unit.

The steering column shall be replaced in

service in case of damage in a vehicle

accident.

The steering column shall not be repaired

in any means.

7.3

INTERMEDIATE SHAFT REMOVAL

1. Remove the universal joint bolt between

steering column & intermediate shaft.

2. Remove the universal joint bolt between

intermediate shaft and rack & pinion assembly.

3. Disengage the intermediate shaft from rack &

pinion assembly and take out the intermediate

shaft.

REFITMENT:

1. Keep the front wheels in straight ahead

position.

2. Follow the reverse procedure of removal.

NOTE:

Wheel alignment is necessary after installation

(Refer wheel alignment procedure).

!! WARNING

Do not reuse the universal joint bolts.
