P200A-1C: Intake Manifold runner performance: Variable Swirl Actuator supply voltage

Overview:

DTC Description (User Friendly)

Intake Manifold runner performance: Variable Swirl Actuator

supply voltage

ECU Pin Number

A005, AO29, A028

Customer Symptom

MIL ON, CEL OFF

Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

-

Lamp Status (If Any)

MIL ON. MIL Turns Off as and when fault condition is not

present / healed.

Fault Detection Condition (Root cause)

The frequency from "range 1" is detected. The received

frequency must be between the two thresholds 6 KHz and 7.4

KHz.

Normal Operating Condition

Proper wiring harness connections between Variable swirl

actuatorand EMS ECU.

Probable Trouble Area

Wiring Harness connections between Variable swirl actuator

and EMS ECU.

Healing Condition

Rectify the error Clear through diagnostic tool.

Ignition OFF & ON.

Component Details:

Swirl actuator is small

butterfly valves f

itted to th

e intake manifold

just before the

cylinder head

intake ports.

In a typical implementation it will be closed at idle speed, creating additional turbulence in the intake. As engine speed

increases, the flaps are gradually opened until, at around 2,000 rpm, they are parallel to the airflow and present virtually

no resistance. Their purpose is to ensure that the air entering the cylinder is sufficiently turbulent for good fuel-air mixing

even at low engine speeds.

Preliminary Checks:

1. Check whether the customer voice / view about the issue is matching with the fault effects mentioned in above

Table. If yes, go ahead with next steps. If not, check for other DTC’s presence.

2. Check whether other customers report similar complaints earlier. If yes, perform the preliminary checks with

respect to earlier issue closure.

3. Check for Damage in EMS ECU connector / Variable swirl actuator.

4. Check for any back out of pins at EMS ECU connector / Variable swirl actuator.

5. Check for any damage of pins at EMS ECU connector / Variable swirl actuator
