B162C - 11: Tailgate State Switch - Circuit Short to Ground
START
Connect Diagnostic tool and Run Input Test Routine and operate the
switches as mentioned in the input switch test routine specification.
Is DTC B162C – 11
logged by Routine?
Disconnect vehicle battery connection.
(Please follow the safety guidelines)
Check connection between BCM and
Tailgate switch
Are connectors
loose?
Correct connector fault
(Terminals Bend)
1.Remove BCM Connector.
2.Perform visual check of connectors for pins bent or damaged
Is connector faulty?
STOP
1. Close all doors
2. Check continuity between BCM connector pin
[C4-15]
Harness side) with Ground
[C1-34/C1-47]
Continuity Found?
1. Remove Tailgate Switch mating connector
2.Perform visual check of connectors for pin bend or damaged etc.
Reconnect connectors firmly

Check if Tailgate switch input[wiring harness side] is
shorted to ground
[C416-1].
Correct
Tailgate switch side wiring

1. Close and Open the Tailgate
2. Check if Tailgate switch is operating?

Reconnect all connectors firmly

Correct BCM side wiring harness
( Short to Ground)
Continuity Found?
YES
NO
NO
Connect battery and other connectors of BCM ECU, if disconnected.
BCM ECU Faulty
Replace BCM ECU
