B2217 – 23: Hazard Switch – Signal Stuck Low

Customer Symptom
Hazard function does not operate
Fault Effects (On Vehicle)
1. Hazard lamp will not come ON when requested
2. Facia Switch illumination for hazard lamp will not
turn ON
Lamp Status (If Any)
Always OFF
Fault Detection Condition
This fault gets logged by BCM; if signal stuck low
condition is detected for hazard lamp switch.
Normal Operating Condition
Hazard lamps shall flash with predefined frequency
immediately after pressing the hazard lamp switch.
Probable Trouble Area
1. BCM connector Fault
2. Hazard switch input wire Short to ground from
cockpit wiring harness
3. Switch damaged or stuck
4. Facia Switch connector fault.
5. BCM ECU fault
Healing Condition
1. Ignition OFF
ON
2. Clear DTC Command
Component Details:
Hazard lamp switch is part of facia switch bank. If user presses the hazard lamp switch, hazard lamps
shall flash with predefined frequency
Preliminary Checks:
1. Check Battery Voltage (12.5 V & above)
2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
