P3014-23: Economy and sport modes switch struck detection

Overview:

DTC Description (User Friendly)

Economy and sport modes switch struck detection

ECU Pin Number

K034 – Input signal to EMS from ECO Mode Switch

K051 – Input signal to EMS from Sports Mode Switch

Customer Symptom

MIL OFF, CEL ON. Engine will run in default normal / City

mode.

Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

Engine will run in default normal / City mode.

Lamp Status (If Any)

CEL ON. CEL Turns Off as and when fault condition is not

present / healed.

Fault Detection Condition (Root cause)

When the Eco switch and sport switch is struck for a time

greater than debounce time.

Normal Operating Condition

Sports Mode and Economy mode functions as per design

intention.

Probable Trouble Area

Wiring harness connections, Sports mode switch, Eco mode

switch, EMS ecu.

Healing Condition

After 3 drive cycles of fault rectification.

Component Details:

Sports / Economy mode switch is a Normally Open - latchable rotary Switch. Whose electrical contacts will be closed

when the rotary Switch is rotated to specific positions.

Preliminary Checks:

1. Check whether the customer voice / view about the issue is matching with the fault effects mentioned in above

Table. If yes, go ahead with next steps. If not, check for other DTC’s presence.

2. Check whether other customers report similar complaints earlier. If yes, perform the preliminary checks with

respect to earlier issue closure.

3. Check whether the contacts of the Drive mode switch are stuck closed.

4. Check for damage of Drive mode switch connector / EMS ECU connector.

5. Check for damage of Drive Mode switch pins / EMS ECU pins.

Trouble Shooting:
