C0040-12: Brake Pedal Switch Switch - circuit short to battery

START

Connect Diagnostic tool and Run Input Test Routine and operate the

switches as mentioned in the input switch test routine specification.

Is DTC C0040-12 logged

by Routine?

Disconnect vehicle battery connection.

(Please follow the safety guidelines)

Check BCM and Brake Pedal Switch

connectors for terminal backout

Are connectors

loose?

Correct connector fault

(Terminals Bend)

1.Remove BCM Connector.

2.Perform visual check of connectors for pins bent or damaged

etc.

Is connector faulty?

STOP

1. Brake Pedal Switch OFF state.

2. Check Continuity between BCM side connector pin

[C1-

22]

with battery

[ C3-2, C3-1]

Continuity

Found?

Correct BCM side wiring harness

( Short to Battery)

1. Remove Brake Pedal switch BCM side mating connector.

2. Check countinuty between Brake lamp contact at BCM side

[C1-22]

with

battery

[ C3-2, C3-1]

Reconnect connectors firmly

Continuity Found?

1. Brake Pedal Switch selection switch

faulty.

2. Replace Brake Pedal Switch selection

switch

BCM ECU Faulty

Replace BCM ECU
