Connector View :

Component Specification :

A

dump valve

is a pressure release

system present in most turbocharged

engines. Its purpose is to prevent compressor

surge, and reduce wear on the turbocharger

and engine. Dump valves relieve the

damaging effects of compressor "surge

loading" by allowing the compressed air to

vent to the atmosphere, making a distinct

hissing sound, or re-circulate into the intake

upstream of the compressor inlet.

Dump Valve is controlled by EMS ECU by

a PWM signal.

Sensor Stand alone Diagnosis :

Measure the resistance across the Dump

valve terminals at room temperature; it should

be 13.2 +/- 0.5 ohms.

iv. Purge Control Valve :

Component Details :

Purge Valve is a solenoid valve (Variable

position), its opening is controlled by

controlling the field current of the magnetic

coil.

Component Location :

Preliminary Checks :

1. Loose or damaged connections between

actuator and EMS ECU.

2. Check for back out of pins at both

actuator and EMS ECU connector.

3. Check for damage of connectors at both

actuator and EMS ECU end.

4. Check whether the actuator is stuck open/

closed - Mechanical failure.
