13.5 OVERHAULING

A. PRECAUTIONS

1. Do not reuse the oil seals.

2. Do not reuse the ring gear bolts.

3. Use of special tool is necessary wherever

specified.

4. The use of non-original equipment for

replacement of a part is not recommended as

their use may cause unit Failure and/ or affect

vehicle safety.

5. Do not mix the new gears with old gears as

this may results in uneven wear and short gear

life.

B. DISMANTLING

INSPECTION

AND

ASSEMBLY

I AXLE SHAFT

DISMANTLING

1. Remove the axle shaft from the rear axle

beam.

(For removal refer axle shaft refer axle

shaft removal procedure in on vehicle repairs

section.)

2. Mount the axle shaft assembly on the stand.

NOTE

Ensure Cleanliness of the stand and is damage

free. Dent on the stand may damage the axle

shaft flange and in turn results in incorrect brake

disc run out.

3. Install the axle shaft bearing puller

(Part No.

287058903505)

on axle shaft assembly as

shown in figure and remove the toner ring.

(Toner Ring Removal Special Tool)

4. Straighten the bent lock washer into Lock Nut

with the help of screw driver.

5. Install locknut removal adaptor

(Part No.

287058903504)

on lock nut and using a socket

remove the Lock Nut.

6. Remove the lock washer and thrust washer

from axle shaft.

NOTE

Use new lock washer while reassembly of axle

shaft.

7. Again Install the bearing puller

(Part No.

287058903505)

on axle shaft, and lock the

legs of puller under the bearing holder flange

securely to remove the bearing holder

assembly.
