REAR AXLE

NOTE
For tightening of suspension links refer to the
“Rear suspension links tightening procedure”
in “on vehicle procedures” section in suspension
group.
B. AXLE SHAFT
REMOVAL
1. Support the vehicle on two post lift and remove
tires from rear end.
2.
Drain the oil from the rear axle.
(For procedure
refer differential oil draining process).
3. Remove rear caliper assembly from both ends.
(For procedure refer caliper removal in brakes
section).
4. Remove parking brake cable, brake hoses and
other attachments from the rear axle.
5. Remove rear brake discs from both ends. (
For
procedure refer brake disc removal process in
brakes section).
6. Loosen and remove mounting nuts of anchor
plate from axle housing (4Nos).
NOTE
Discard nuts and replace with new ones during
assembly.
7. Remove axle shafts with the help of axle shaft
puller
(Part No. 287058903502)
use the
extension of pinion oil seal
(Part No.
289458903516).
NOTE
While removing axle shafts make sure that they
are marked properly. (LH and RH)
8. Remove inboard oil seal with the help of Puller
slide hammer
(Part No. 289458903516)
.
NOTE
Do not re-use oil seal discard the same after
dismantling and use new oil seal at the time of
assembly.
