VALVES :

Clean valves using a cleaning solution and remove

adhering oil, carbon etc.

NOTE :

Valves with burnt heads, excessive scoring, wear

on stem should be replaced.

Check valve head thickness

If less than specified. Replace valve.

Check valve seat run out with respect to valve stem

If it exceeds specified limit replace valve. Fig. 94

CAUTION :

No attempt should be made to straighten bent

valves.

NOTE :

If valve is free from any other defects except worn

out seat, then only it should be remachined on a

valve grinding machine. After grinding, valve head

thickness should not be less than specified value.

Valve Guides :

In case of valve stem sticking in valve guide bore

or excessive clearance between them. Remove valve

guide from cylinder head. Fig. 95

Do not reuse used valve guide seals.

Inspect for valve guide bore diameter in cylinder

head & if necessary, Ream valve guide bore in

cylinder head to next over size.

Install matching size valve guide in cylinder head

to specified height.

Ream valve guide inside diameter to specified size.

Fit new/fresh valve guide oil seals.
