INSPECTION AND ASSEMBLY OF OIL PUMP

1 Heat oil pump driven gear (spur gear with key slot)

to approx. 80 deg C. Press on drive shaft ensuring

that woodruff key is in position. Maintain specified

distance between shaft and gear face.

2 Press idler shaft into housing maintain specified

height in housing.

3 Insert drive shaft with driven gear into housing.

4 Insert idler gear over idler shaft.

5 Check axial clearance of oil pump gear. Fig. 10

6 Check radial clearance of gear tips in housing. Fig. 11.

7 Heat helical drive gear to approx. 80 deg C and

press on drive shaft ensuring that the woodruff

key is in position. Press the helical drive gear Fig.

12 in such a way as to obtain specified axial

clearance between helical gear and housing.
