Note:
Keep the pack of plates and discs exactly as
they were removed.
Drive Pinion Removal
Remove end yoke using holder Pt. No. 2698 5890
3505 and Remover, yoke Pt. no. 2698 5890 3504.

If yoke or flange shows wear in the area of the seal
contact, it should be replaced.
Remove pinion by tapping with mallet. Catch the
pinion with hand and avoid it to fall and get dam-
aged.

Caution:
Gear tooth have sharp edges. When han-
dling gears use care to avoid personal in-
jury.

Collect shims and keep together as they will be used
later. Replace shims with new ones if they gets
mutilated.
Note:
Discard and replace the collapsible spacer
at the time of assembly.
Pull out pinion seal with Puller slide hammer Pt. No.
2698 5890 3507. Fig. 28
Note:
Discard Seal
Remove bearing cone and outer thrust washer.
Turn nose of carrier down. Remove outer pinion bear-
ing cup. Locate driver on back edge of cup, then
drive cup out using Remover front pinion bearing
cup Pt. No. 2698 5890 3510 and handle Pt. No. 2698
5890 3506.
