BRAKES

CAUTION:

Ensure edges of brake shoes do not damage wheel

cylinder dust covers.

NOTE:

(a) Inspection procedure for rear brake shoes is same

as that of front brake shoes.

(b) Procedure for rear brake auto adjuster removal,

overhaul and installation, is same as that of front

brake auto adjuster.

INSTALLATION OF REAR BRAKE SHOES

NOTE:

Before installing brake shoes:

(a) Thoroughly clean the back-plate and brake

drum.

(b) Smear brake shoe contact points with grease.

1. Engage parking brake cable.

2. Mount brake shoe assembly on back plate and

engage lower shoe return spring.

3. Install brake shoe hold down spring and turn brake

shoe pin with the help of special tool in order to

lock the pin with shoes.

4. Install brake drum. (Refer rear brake drum

installation procedure)

5. Apply brake pedal a min. of 30 times to ensure full

adjustment of rear brake shoes after refitting.

6. Mount wheel (s) and tighten wheel mounting bolts

to specified torque.

TIGHTENING TORQUE FOR WHEEL MOUNTING BOLTS =

8 - 8.3 Kg-m

7. Remove supports and lower vehicle.
