ENGINE

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The main components of the fuel system are fuel tank,

tank pressure valve, fuel filter, fuel module, carbon

canister, fuel lines,& canister purge valve.

Fuel Module has three subassemblies:

i. Fuel Pump with in built Pressure Regulator

ii. Fuel Level Sensor Assembly

iii. Multifunction Valve (Roll Over Valve)

Fuel System has main three lines, that is,

i. Fuel feed Line

ii. Fuel return Line

iii. Fuel vapour line

The fuel in the tank is pumped up by the electric fuel

pump inbuilt on the fuel module, filtered by the fuel

filter and fed under pressure to each injector.

The fuel pressure at the injector is always higher than

the intake manifold pressure. The fuel is injected into

the intake port of the cylinder head when the injector

opens according to the injection signal from ECU

(Engine Control Unit).

The evaporative emission control system for tank

ventilation is “Closed” type. The system prevents fuel

vapours formed within the tank and entering to the

atmosphere. It also prevents the release of their load

of polluting light hydrocarbons (HC).
