BRAKE SYSTEM

NOTE:

It may be advantageous to bleed the entire system

with the engine running for booster fitted vehicle.

4. Work on brake pedal for fullest strokes, till pedal

feels hard. Hold the brake pedal

.

5. Open the bleed screw by 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn,

sufficient to allow the brake fluid to flow freely and

till your foot touches the floor.

6. Retighten the bleed screw and again start pumping

brake pedal.

7. There should be an interval of 3 to 4 seconds

before making the next stroke. This action should

be repeated until bubbles of air cease to appear at

the end of the bleed tube.

8. Once the clear flow of brake fluid flows through

tube, tighten the bleed screw to specified torque

and refit dust cap.

TIGHTENING TORQUE FOR BLEED SCREW

NUT = 0.5 - 0.8 Kg-m

CAUTION:

Over tightening of bleed screw leads to breaking of

screw which may cause to replace a wheel cylinder

assembly.

1. Carefully clean all dirt from and around the filler

cap. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir; it

should be above min. and below max. level. Top

up brake fluid accordingly if found belowmin. level.

2. Before commencing bleeding at each bleed screw,

remove the dust cap and clean thoroughly.

3. Attach the transparent (Vinyl) bleed tube to rear

left bleed screw and

place the other end of the

tube in a clean glass jar containing sufficient

brake fluid to submerge the end of the tube.

NOTE:

Ensure that the fluid level in the tandemmaster cylinder

reservoir does not fall low enough to cause air to be

drawn into the system, throughout the bleeding

operation.

9. Repeat the same procedure on rear right, front left

and front right wheel cylinder respectively.

10.After completion of bleeding, apply the brake pedal

hard and check for any leak at the joints and bleed

screws. Also check the brake pedal for

“sponginess”. If found spongy repeat the complete

procedure of bleeding. If pressure bleeding is done,

the engine need not run (For booster fitted vehicle).

But the sequence of bleeding operation should still

be rear left, rear right, front left and front right only.
