SUSPENSION
2.8 Ensure that the Strut components are not fouling
with any other parts near by. Any fouling part is
bound to give a noise.
2.9 Ensure that the spring end is sitting securely on
the spring seat at the correct place. If not, noise
will be heard.
2.10 Look for signs of suspected oil leakage on the
damper body. This is usually seen as oil patches
or wet mud cakes on the damper body.
2.11 Look for broken parts.
2.12 Examine ride height of car to see signs of
sagging - with and without loads.
2.13 Drive the car to evaluate complaint - weak / hard.
3. Evaluation result for investigation on car:
3.1 If the complaint is noise and no signs of oil
leakage are observed on the damper body, it is
most likely that noise is coming from other parts.
3.2 Retighten nuts and bolts to specified norms and
adjust, if required, end play of brake and clutch
linkages. Evaluate as per 2.1
3.3 If complaint persists, replace the suspected
suspension part (front strut or rear shock
absorber) and Evaluate as per 2.1.
3.4 If complaint persists, there is no problem with
the strut or shock absorber damper.
3.5 If the complaint does not appear after
replacement of strut or damper, further
investigation of removed front strut or rear shock
absorber is needed.
