7.2.2 REGULAR MAINTENANCE

A. POWER STEERING OIL REPLACEMENT

1. Position the vehicle in the two post lift and lift the

vehicle.

2. Remove the stone guard.

3. Loosen and remove the banjo bolt. Disconnect

the high pressure line and allow the oil to drain.

4. Remove the clamp and disconnect the suction

hose from the pump and allow the oil to drain

from it as well.

5. Crank the engine for ten seconds without allowing

the engine to start (if possible). Stop the engine

immediately if the engine starts.

6. Now turn the steering wheel left and right to full-

lock (each side) three to four times.

! CAUTION

The power steering oil will drain from both hoses

as well as the pump; hence make necessary ar-

rangements to collect the oil.

When the oil is completely drained plug the holes

properly to avoid entry of contaminants and dirt

particles into the pump.

7. Once the oil is drained refit the high pressure line

and tighten the union bolt to the specified torque

(1.5-2.5 Kg-m).

8. Fix the suction hose and fit the spring band clamp

on it.

9. Lower the vehicle and bleed the system.

(For

Bleeding procedure refer Hydraulic system Air

Bleeding.)
