P066C-11: Cylinder 2 Glow Plug Circuit Low – Glow plug 2 (circuit short to ground) Overview: DTC Description (User Friendly) Glow plug 2 (circuit short to ground) ECU Pin Number NA Glow Plug Module Pin Number G2 (in 4 pole connector) Customer Symptom No Symptoms, Glow Plug Lamp ON, Under Cold climates (below 0 degrees C), Prolonged cranking of Engine happens. Fault Effects (On Vehicle) Under Cold climates (below 0 degrees C), Prolonged cranking of Engine happens Lamp Status (If Any) Glow Plug Lamp ON Fault Detection Condition (Root cause) Glow Plug Module pin G2 (in 4-pole connector) got short circuited to Ground. Normal Operating Condition No Fault Probable Trouble Area Wiring Harness Connections between EMS ECU and GPIU Module. GPIU Module EMS ECU Healing Condition Rectify the error Clear through diagnostic tool Ignition OFF & ON Component Details: Glow Plug Control Module controls the operation of Glow Plugs installed on each engine cylinder. Glow Plug Module also provides feedback to EMS ECU regarding the activation status of glow plugs, failures in glow plugs wiring connections / GPIU module itself. EMS ECU will take rectification actions, incase GPIU reports any errors. Glow Plugs are installed on engine cylinders to warm up the engine cylinder chamber to aid the vehicle starting and emission control under ambient temperatures below 0 degrees. Preliminary Checks: 1. Check whether the customer voice / view about the issue is matching with the fault effects mentioned in above Table. If yes, go ahead with next steps. If not, check for other DTC’s presence. 2. Check whether other customers report similar complaints earlier. If yes, perform the preliminary checks with respect to earlier issue closure.\ 3. Check the wiring harness connections between EMS ECU and GPIU Module as per the circuit Schematic. 4. Loose/ Damaged Connections between GPIU Module and EMS ECU. 5. Loose/ Damaged Connections between GPIU Module and Battery supply or Main relay supply. 6. Check for proper installation of GPIU Module in Vehicle. 7. Check for damage of pins at EMS ECU connector and GPIU Module connector. Trouble Shooting: Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1 Check Whether the GPIU Module is installed on Vehicle Go to Next Step Fit GPIU Module 2 Check for any mechanical damage in GPIU Module or Glow Plug of cylinder 2. Call Hotline Go to next step
