B2238- 12: Rear Defogger switch circuit short to BATT Overview: ISO Code (DTC Code) B2238-12 Customer Symptom Rear Defogger will not switch ON even though after switch request. Fault Effects (On Vehicle) Rear Defogger remains OFF. Lamp Status (If Any) NA Fault Detection Condition DTC logged during input switch test routine. Normal Operating Condition No DTC logged during input switch test routine. Probable Trouble Area 1. Switch damage 2. Wiring harness short to BATT 3. BCM fault 4. BCM connector fault Healing Condition 1. Run Input Switch test routine DTC. 2. Read DTC, no DTC shall be logged Component Details: Rear Defogger switch(part of fascia switch) is a non-latchable switch. Hence BCM detects GND at this input pin till the switch is pressed. Short to BATT indicates the BCM detects as switch not pressed condition. Preliminary Checks: 1. Check Battery Voltage (9V-16V) 2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage. Trouble Shooting:-
