B2217 – 11: Hazard Switch – Short to Ground Overview: ISO Code B2217 - 11 Customer Symptom 1. Hazard lamps always ON. 2. Facia Switch illumination for hazard lamp always ON Fault Effects (On Vehicle) 1. Hazard lamps always ON. 2. Facia Switch illumination for hazard lamp always ON 3. Battery Drain Lamp Status (If Any) Always ON Fault Detection Condition This fault will be logged after the input switch test routine execution. User has to operate the switch manually during routine. If short to ground fault is detected for hazard switch then this DTC code will be returned with the Routine results. Normal Operating Condition There should not be any fault returned by routine Probable Trouble Area 1. BCM connector Fault 2. Hazards switch input wire Short to ground from cockpit wiring harness. 3. Switch damaged or stuck 4. Facia Switch connector fault. 5. BCM ECU fault Healing Condition 1. Ignition OFF ON 2. Clear DTC Command Component Details: Hazard switch is part of facia switch bank. When the hazard switch is pressed, hazard lamps shall flash with predefined frequency Preliminary Checks: 1. Check Battery Voltage (12.5 V & above) 2. Check ECU pins for oxidation, bending & damage.
