GEAR BOX 44 7. Similarly press out the constant mesh over drive gear from the counter shaft. INSPECTION Following points should be checked before starting to assemble the counter shaft:  Gear teeth for breakage, wear, pitting, scoring and overheating marks.  Bearing seats for rotation marks.  Splines for breakage, burrs and wear on sides. ASSEMBLY SR. NO. COMPONENT DESCRIPTION 1 Taper roller bearing 2 Spacer 3 Circlip 4 4 th gear (Counter shaft) 5 3 rd gear (Counter shaft) 6 Counter shaft 7 Over drive gear 1. Heat the constant mesh and 3 rd gear to 100°C– 120°C and press over counter shaft with proper support in such a way that bigger gear i.e. 4 th is facing upward and fit the circlip. 2. In the same way fit 5 th gear over other side such that longer boss is facing upwards. Ensure proper abutment of gear on the counter shaft.
