ENGINE 40 C. REGULAR MAINTENANCE : NOTE None of the procedures should be performed with ENGINE RUNNING, unless specified in the procedure. i. Engine Oil Replacement : WARNING New and used engine oil can be hazardous. Used oil filter and oil to be disposed as per local regulation. NOTE Before draining engine oil, check engine for any oil leakage. If any leakage found, make a note of it and repair or replace the defective part before refilling the engine oil. 1. Position the vehicle in a 2 poster lift. 2. Open the Engine oil filling cap. 3. Remove the stone guard (For procedure refer stone guard removal in body section) 4. Position a suitable container for collecting the drained Engine oil below the oil Sump drain plug. 5. Loosen and remove the Engine oil sump drain plug. 6. Drain Engine oil in the container placed in step 3. 7. After draining the oil completely, wipe the drain plug and reinstall the drain plug. NOTE When replacing the Engine Oil, allow the oil to drain completely and then refill it with new oil after ensuring that drain plug is reinstalled and tightened to a torque of 5±1 kg-m with new sealing washer. ii. Oil Filter Replacement : 1. Turn the front wheel to the extreme right and secure the vehicle using chokes. NOTE 4X2 vehicle oil filter can also be accessed from bottom of vehicle. 2. Remove the inner wheel arc liner. 3. Approach from behind the wheel to the oil filter. 4. Rotate the Oil filter in the anti-clockwise direction using the Oil filter spanner. Fitment : Fit the oil filter by rotating it till the rubber seal makes contact with the oil cooler. After that rotate it by 7/8 th turn to 1 turn using the oil filter spanner. (Part No 2870 5890 18 04 for M/S FLEETGUARD Oil Filter & 2870 5890 18 05 for M/S MAHLE Oil Filter) CAUTION Do not over tighten the oil filter, as over tightening may cause damage to the filter, which may in turn result in oil leakage from it.
