ELECTRICAL 320 8.18 GENERAL ELECTRICAL INFORMATION: This section is intended to assist in diagnosing the electrical faults and should be used in conjunction with the Electrical Circuit Diagrams. The document is divided into the following sections: 1. INTRODUCTION - General information on how to read the circuit diagram. 2. FUSE & RELAY BOX DETAILS - provides details of fuse & relay location, rating in Amperes and circuit(s) protected. 3. SYMBOLS - provides details about symbols used in circuit diagram 4. CIRCUIT SCHMATICS - provides details about how each of the systems operates 5. GROUNDING TOPOLOGY - provides details of earth points, earth and power headers, including a plan view of the vehicle to aid location. 6. INTERCONNECTION TOPOLOGY – provides details of interconnection connector including a plan view of the vehicle to aid location. 7. WIRING HARNESS FITMENT DRAWING: provides details about routing & connector location in the vehicle NOTE: Before starting electrical checks on the vehicle, ensure that the relevant mechanical functions operate satisfactorily . ! CAUTION: “LED or lamp flickering on Fascia Sw, Music system, key barrel illumination, IC lamps flickering or intermittent warning lamp on –off, grounding to be checked (check earth points from respective connection till Battery -ve on body and chassis ground)” For troubleshooting any electrical problem please follow the below five steps 1. Verify the problem Check the operation of circuit to understand the problem. Do not begin disassembling or testing until you have narrowed down to the possible cause. 2. Analyze the circuit diagram ( schematic ) Analyze the diagram. Check circuits that shares wiring with problem circuit, the name of shared circuits is often given on each circuit diagram to aid troubleshooting, shared power & ground circuits can be found in power & distribution circuits. Try to operate the shared circuits. If these circuits work, then the shared wiring is ok. The cause must be within the wiring used only by problem circuit. If several circuits fail at the same time, chances are the either power or ground circuit faulty. 3. Find the cause Narrow down the possible causes. Before you replace the component check fuse, power & ground wires at the component harness. 4. Repair the problem Once the specific problem is identified, make the repair. Be sure to use correct tools & safe procedures. 5. Check the repair Check the operation of the repaired circuit in all modes to make sure you fixed the entire problem. If the problem was the blown fuse be sure to test all of the circuits on that fuse. Make sure no new problem is created. CAUTION: LED or lamp flickering on Fascia Switch, Music system, key barrel illumination, IC lamps flickering or intermittent warning lamp on –off. Grounding to be checked (check earth points from respective connection till Battery -ve on body and chassis ground).
