SAFARI STORME MY14

SUPPLEMENTARY RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) 17 SRS 4. Disconnect the DAB connector from clock spring and disconnect the horn pad connection and separate the DAB assembly from the vehicle. FITMENT For fitment follow reverse procedure of removal. NOTE After fitment connect the diagnostic tool and clear all fault codes if any. B. PASSENGER AIRBAG (PAB) The passenger airbag module is located below the dashboard; above the glove box and its functioning is controlled by the SRS ECU. A bag within the mod- ule inflates to protect the passenger in the event of a collision severe enough to deploy the system. Within the passenger airbag module is a squib which, when given the correct current by the SRS ECU, inflates the airbag by initiating a chemical reac- tion. In deployment, the airbag inflates within a frac- tion of a second and then deflates at a controlled rate as the passenger body regions; typically head and chest interact with airbag. Vents in the airbag control its deflation. The SRS ECU regularly applies a test current to the passenger airbag squib to confirm continuity of the ignition circuitry. ON VEHICLE REPAIR !! WARNING The system has back-up power for about 30 seconds after the battery is disconnected. Wait for at least ONE minute after disconnecting the battery before servicing the vehicle to prevent accidental deploy- ment and personal injury. REMOVAL 1. Disconnect the battery connections. 2. Remove the hush panel. (For procedure refer hush panel removal procedure in body section.) 3. Remove glove box ( For procedure refer glove box removal procedure in body section ) 4. Disconnect the electrical connector of PAB. 5. Remove the four mounting bolts which hold the air bag assembly with the cross car beam. 6. Carefully pry out the PAB unit form dashboard.
