DRIVESHAFT

1

1.1. GENERAL INFORMATION

Driveshaft assemblies transmit engine power to independently suspended wheels. They consist of an inner

and outer constant velocity joint connected by an axle shaft.

CV joint allows the driveshaft to transmit torque

at constant speed and at wide variety of angles.

Outer joint

connects to wheel end side and Inner joint fits at differential side.

Outer joint

allows the wheels to steer while axle is rotating. (Fixed type joint).

Inner joint

allows for suspension movement while axle is rotating. (Plunging type Joint).
