Too much play

in steering

1. Wheel bearings worn

2. Rack and pinion attachments loose

3. Rack and pinion out adjustment

4. Worn tie rod end or tie rod end ball

5. Worn lower arm ball joints

6. Worn steering universal joints

1. Replace with new one

2. Tighten or repair

3. Check and adjust rack and pinion torque

4. Replace tie rod or tie rod ball joints

5. Replace worn ball joints

Erratic

steering when

braking

1. Worn wheel bearings

2. Incorrect tyre pressures

3. Broken or sagging spring

4. Misaligned front ends

5. Different types of tyres on either

side.

6. Uneven wear on brake shoes

7. Partial or complete loss of braking in

either of the two diagonal circuits

1. Replace wheel bearings

2. Adjust and correct tyre pressures

3. Replace spring

4. Adjust the wheel alignment at front ends

5. Install tyres of correct type and

specification

6. Check and replace brake shoes if found

below thickness

7. Check and repair

Ride too soft

1. Faulty strut assembly

2. Faulty springs and dampers on both

5. Bind in tie rod end ball studs or lower

6. Vehicle overloaded

7. Oversized tyres

8. Rubber bellows on RAP assembly

disturbed or stuck up

9. RAP yoke screw over tightened

Steering rack & pinion.

1. Check and adjust toe

2. Check and adjust rack and pinion torque.

Repair or replace

3. Adjust and correct tyre pressures

4. Repair or replace

5. Replace tie rod end or lower arm

6. Check the load

7. Replace tyres with correct specifications

8. Correct the disturbed or stuck up bellows

9. Tighten to specified torque
