KRYOTEC ENGINE

29

11. Carefully thread the new oil filter onto the

engine block. Hand-tighten the filter until the

filter is firm

against the sealing surface.

12. Lower the vehicle to the ground and add 6.5

liters of fresh oil through the oil fill hole on the

cylinder head cover.

13. Start the engine, observing the oil pressure

indicator on the instrument panel. Stop the

engine immediately if the light fails to go out

within a few seconds of starting the engine.

14. Allow the engine to run for two to three

minutes before stopping.

15. Check the oil level using the engine dipstick

to make sure the engine oil level is at the

'MAX' mark on the dipstick.

16. Check for oil leaks at the filter or drain plug.

ii. ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT

Description

Replace the engine coolant and flush the cooling

system as per service schedule.

Procedure

WARNING

Coolant is poisonous to humans and animals. Use

care when handling coolant and use proper

disposal otherwise death or injury may occur.

Never loosen or remove the coolant reservoir cap

while the engine cooling system is still hot.

Removing the reservoir cap may allow hot coolant

or steam to escape, causing severe bums.

The electric cooling fan, may start at any time.

Disconnect the battery cable to prevent the fan

from operating while servicing the cooling system.

1. Allow the vehicle engine to cool sufficiently

before proceeding.

2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.

3. Remove the coolant reservoir cap.

4. Raise the vehicle off the ground to access the

coolant drain petcock on the radiator.

Raise the vehicle with a lift hoist.

Park the vehicle on flat, level surface and

engage the parking brake. Place chocks at

the rear wheels and raise the front of the

vehicle with a floor jack.

5. Place a container capable of holding at least

eight (8) litres of liquid beneath the drain plug

on the radiator.

6. Loosen the drain plug and allow the coolant

to drain into the container.

7. Drain the coolant reservoir and rinse out any

sediment.

8. Use fresh water to reverse flush the radiator

from the drain to the coolant reservoir bottle.

9. Close the coolant drain plug on the radiator.

10. Add the recommended brand of pre-mixed

40:60 ratio coolant to the reservoir until the

coolant level is

at the 'MAX' mark on the

bottle.

11. Start the engine and gradually increase

engine speed to allow the engine to reach 85-

90

o

C, which allows the thermostat to open.

12. Allow the engine to return to idle speed.

13. Stop the engine and allow to cool sufficiently.

14. Add pre-mixed 40:60 ratio coolant to the

reservoir until the coolant level is at the 'MAX'

mark on the bottle.
