Automated Manual Transmission

23

Clutch Kiss Point Self Tuning:

The guidelines of the procedure are illustrat-

ed below:

When?

At vehicle Grid self tuning

After replacing the control unit

After replacing/removing gearbox

After replacing/removing KIT (uncoupling)

After replacing clutch

Why?

The routine is designed to quickly recalcu-

late the "kiss point" which is the position at

which the clutch starts to transmit drive

torque.

What tools are needed?

Diagnosis equipment

NOTES:

The procedure takes approximately 1 minute.

Power latch takes approximately 15 seconds.

The procedure must be requested before

starting the engine, with key-on and trans-

mission in neutral. The engine can then be

started.

The procedure can also be requested after

starting the engine providing the gearbox is

in neutral. If the gearbox is not in neutral, the

request remains pending until neutral is en-

gaged (see below)

It is necessary to wait for the TCU to com-

plete the 5 activation cycles before key off.

The 5 cycles are carried out automatically

with the command sent only once.

The pro-

cedure can start in the following conditions:

Ignition ON

No gear change in progress

Transmission in neutral

Engine on.

The instrument request will remain pending

until at least one of the previous conditions

occurs. The procedure will be run as soon as

the aforesaid conditions occur.

The following conditions are monitored dur-

ing the procedure:

Ignition ON

Transmission in neutral

Clutch position sensor ok

Engagement actuators OK

Sensor/actuator/ECU power supply OK

If even only one of the above conditions is no

longer satisfied, the procedure is aborted

(auto calibration not ok).

The test equipment cannot request the inter-

ruption of the procedure. It will be concluded

after having been started.

No gear change requests are made during

the kiss calibration procedure.

Grid Self-Tuning:

The guidelines of the procedure are illustrat-

ed below:

When?

At Grid self tuning (when necessary)

After replacing the gearbox

After replacing/uncoupling KIT

After replacement of any selection or en-

gagement Sensor

After replacing the control unit

Why?

The routine is designed to memorise the

gear change grid thresholds.
