1.9.6. REMOVAL OF TORSION BEAM

1. Position the vehicle in the two post lift.

2. Remove the wheel cap and loosen wheel nuts.

3. Lift the vehicle using two post lift.

4. Remove the wheel.

5. Slacken off the hand brake cable.

6. Insert a screwdriver through the hole in drum

and press against the hand brake lever.

7. A ‘click’ will be heard as the lever moves down.

This movement compresses the pistons in the

wheel cylinder and thereby increases the

clearance between the brake shoes and the

drum.

8. Remove the brake drum by unscrewing the

stub axle nut as shown and gently tapping by

mallet.

9. REAR BRAKE DRUM BEARING REMOVAL.

Fit the special tool part no (2871 5890 4202) to

the brake drum and pry out the bearing using

press after removing the circlip over it

CAUTION:

Bearing removed from brake drum should

not be

reused again.
