WIRING HARNESS REPAIR MANUAL 7 GENERAL INFORMATION A note on Wiring Harness Thewiring harness is a bunch of electrical wires having various connectors with different types of terminals, fuse box, junction box and other components specific to the application of the vehicle; which connects with electrical and electronic automotive components and make them enable to work smoothly. Due to abundant development in automotive electronics f ields, various electronic components are gett ing inducted and simultaneously wires with different varieties are getting added in the wiring harness bunch and making it much complicated e.g. wires near engine or connecting to engine are of different heat withstanding grade from those being used in cabin for roof lamp also wires connecting one ECU to another ECU are different in nature and build from those being used for head lamp power supply. While repairing wiring harness we need to keep utmost care of the wire quality. Besides keeping eye on wire quality it also equally important to ensure a good quality repair, since an ill-repaired wiring joints develops more resistance on the way of flow to current and creates a possibility of excess heat generation and thereafter major failure in the vehicle. The nexus of wire repair lies in the selection of right quality of wire and good repair done. Wire Color Code B = Black, R = Red, L =Blue, Br =Brown, Gy = Grey, V = Violet, W=White, P =Pink O = Orange, LG = Light Green, SB = Sky Blue Many a times, a combination of these colors are used in wire e.g. L/R- Blue wire with red strip.
