7. INLET METERING VALVE (

IMV)

This controls fuel flow into pumping element in order

to control rail pressure. This sensor is in built with

HP Pump.

The inlet metering valve (IMV) ensures the filling of

the high pressure pump. The IMV valve is normally

open therefore Zero current shows a fully open sta-

tus for the valve. The higher the current the further

driven closed is the Valve. This output is driven by a

Low side PWM signal.

INSPECTION:

1. Measure the resistance between the two IMV

connector terminals; it should be 5.44 ohms.

8. VENTURI

It is an integral part of High pressure pump. It has

inlet & outlet connections. One connection comes

from injector back leak circuit and another from the

HP pump

(back leak)

the third connection goes to

the fuel tank (

return Line

), in between there is a "T"

connector which goes to the fuel filter.

9. RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR

This sensor is fitted on the fuel rail and gives a

close loop control of the rail pressure. Fuel is main-

tained at a high pressure in the fuel rail depending

on requirement of the engine.

NOTE

The rail pressure sensor should not be removed

from the rail. In case the sensor is faulty consult
