and has
three main functions.
i) It absorbs the moisture in the refrigerant.
ii) It allows only liquid (
high pressure liquid)
to pass
through to the TXV.
iii) It keeps a reserve of refrigerant to accommodate
fluctuating refrigerant requirements.
10.1.5.6 THERMISTER OR THERMO SENSOR
NOTE
To remove thermister from the HVAC unit, the HVAC
assembly needs to be dismantled.
It is a temperature sensing device, which is posi-
tioned at the coldest point of the evaporator
(as
shown in the fig below)
. The control unit switches
OFF the compressor at a temperature when con-
densed water tends to form ice on the fins of
evaporator. Thus it maintains the evaporator tem-
perature within a specified range.
THERMISTER POSITION ON EVAPORATOR
The thermister bulb should be fixed such that the
sensing bulb is right over the point as shown figure
above.
! CAUTION
The point indicated above is the location of the sens-
ing bulb and not the point where clip has to be
inserted. Any minor change in position of the evapo-
rator can lead to malfunctioning of the HVAC system.
