11.1.6.2.6 SRS WARNING LAMP

It warns the vehicle driver when the air bag electrical

system malfunctions which could potentially affect

the operation of the air bag system. These malfunc-

tions could result in unintended performance of the

system.

A warning light should never come

ON

unless there

is a fault in vehicle's air bag system

(Supplementary

restraint system or SRS).

The air bag control module

(ECU)

runs a self-check every ignition cycle. If it

finds a fault in a crash sensor, in one of the restraint

components, the wiring or itself, it will set a code,

turn on the warning light. In such cases restraints

components and system performance could be com-

promised.

NOTE

For warning light disable conditions refer DTC codes.

LOCATION

The “AIR BAG” warning lamp is located in the in-

strument cluster and controlled by SRS ECU
